Iv learned a lot of html back when i was in high school, and one of the best things do on this is google it, It is not hard to learn at all but like anything else it takes time and patience.

I usually use dreamweaver now but knowing html will always be good.

This is just basic but to build a site like this there is many advance things like php, sql, and many other advance stuff that will take time to learn.

Everything can be learned with Goggle.

If someone just wants to learn how to make their webpages, listings look better, then a basic knowledge of HTML is more than enough. Its only when you enter the complicated stuff of having java and other scripts running to make the website more powerful, that you need further knowledge. I started with Microsoft Frontpage a long time ago but quickly realized its shortcomings and moved to Dreamweaver and haven't looked back every since. Sunil is correct. Google has a TON of information (very easy to learn HTML websites) for anyone who is interested in learning. I would suggest anyone to just fire up Frontpage or Dreamweaver and play around with it for sometime first. Lots of features are very self-explaining. Then go on google and start learning one concept at a time and practice it out on the software. There is a learning curve to this, but it isn't as hard as it looks to a newbie.

If anyone wants a good Ebay template design service. Go to Biggerbids.Com, they are a little lesser well known than the big boys but I think their templates are much more professional looking. They also have free unlimited image hosting. And for only $8.95/mo

There are several sweet templates to choose from and since they are not as popular as auctiva and the other guys, your listings will stand out and be more unique on Ebay.

Also, whenever you get enough money to do it. I would recommend hiring a person to design a customized template to fit your business. Dont spend over $800 to do this. There are some turkeys out ther who charge over $2000.... Crazy!!! I hired a lady to do it for $250.00 and it looks fine.

I only have basic HTML skills so I wasnt able to make a nice design myself, but I agree that basic HTML is a must, especially for CL.

I played with Frontpage a while ago and made a pretty good looking website (if I do say so myself).  Recently I was talking to a web design buddy of mine and he told me that Dreamweaver is the way to go.  He gave me a tutorial go study and said if I worked hard at it I could learn just enough to be dangerous within 2 weeks.  CL has a ton of ppl that will barter their web design services (or sell it for cheap or free for referrals) but at the end of the day you need to know how to do it yourself.  Regular maintenance of your website by you (learning how to fish) will keep you from going back to that designer that did it for cheap at first but is now ripping you a new one for the up keep.

Good Luck

Just posted this in other forum but I do design work for people on the side.  I've been doing more stuff using Wordpress because once I'm done with the design the client can pretty much add/delete/ pages and news post ect without having to know anything about design since it's all gui'ed interface and all they have to do is fill out forms hit publish.

I use dreamweaver for heaver design work and coding since more inlcined for design eyes but can do heaver coding.  If you are just a coder they usually will prefer Homesite but most strait coders have bad design lol.

He's my site and some examples of wordrpess.

I usually don't charge for wordpress designs since I will charge for the yearly hosting around $250 per year.  Most designers will usually charge around $250 - 500 for basic website design and 9 times out of ten they are just modifying a template from template monster.  Unless you are have additional scripting such as forums, shopping cart, video...Don't pay more than $500 for a basic website.
